Margaret Boyd
Director of Workforce Development - Service Delivery
Margaret Boyd is director of workforce development for MCC Business & Learning Solutions, a division of
Metropolitan Community College that provides a wide variety of training, development and consulting services
to business and industry in and around metropolitan Kansas City.
Margaret joined MCC in 2000 as director of the Program for Adult College Education
(PACE) at MCC-Longview. In 2001, she moved to MCC-Business & Technology and became
associate director for training and development, then in 2003 became dean of
instruction and student services, a position she held until taking on her current role
with Business & Learning Solutions in 2007. Prior to MCC, Margaret worked at Phillips
Community College of the University of Arkansas, where she served as Arkansas
County off-campus coordinator, then vice chancellor for Arkansas County and
executive vice president. She also worked for the Stuttgart (Ark.) School District
as a licensed school counselor.
Margaret holds a bachelor of science in education, a vocational certification, and a
certification to teach science from the University of Arkansas. She also holds a master’s
degree in psychology/counseling from the University of Central Arkansas.
Margaret’s educational leadership experience is vast and varied. While at Phillips
Community College, she led a community task force that established funding for building
and maintaining a new campus, then participated in the campus’ successful merger with the
University of Arkansas. Since joining MCC, she has participated in a number of campus and
district initiatives, including working with local high schools to establish a regional
CISCO academy and serving on the team that developed a Department of Labor grant to train
entry level manufacturing employees, with responsibility for hiring faculty and
collaboratively developing curriculum. She also served on the campus leadership
team that managed the transition of the Business Technology Center from a business-training
focused institution to a community college campus (MCC-Business & Technology).
